Your responsibilities
As member of our small database team, you will participate in daily database server administration and monitoring tasks. You will also design and develop reliable HA and DR procedures, backup/restore plans, database maintenance, server upgrades and service pack implementation. Close collaboration with different application development teams would be also part of your job. You will help them in resolving different database architectural issues and build effective query execution plans. In addition, you will participate in constant improvements of our monitoring system.
Installation
- SQL Server Installation, Upgrades, Migrations and Configuration
- Install database software service packs and cumulative updates as necessary
- Follow Change Management processes to implement database configuration changes
Support
- The administration, backup, integrity and security of various SQL servers and databases
- Responsible for database tasks from software upgrades and custom deployments, to troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot and resolve different server and database issues
- Define, administer and maintain database security access
Monitor and Maintenance
- Reliability, stability and data integrity of databases
- Database systems/storage resources and query throughput
- Perform index maintenance (rebuild/defragment)
- Collect ana analyze different server and database statistics
- Proactively monitor and respond to MSSQL database Alerts
- Continually assess, improve, and optimize our current database environment
- Perform database Ad-hoc backups and restores for both ad-hoc requests and validating database integrity
Your qualification
- You have at least 3-5 years of practical experience in MS SQL Server
- SQL Server knowledge from the version SQL Server 2008R2 – SQL Server 2019
- Deep understanding of the SQL Server architecture
- Knowledge of the DMV and DMF
- Understanding and ability to analyze different performance counters
- Knowledge of query optimizer and index usage
- Very good knowledge of the T-SQL and SSIS
- Basic Azure knowledge (VM, SQL Databases, Storage Accounts, manage backups/restore …)
- Basic knowledge of PowerShell
- Basic knowledge of PowerBI
- Available to do on-call service (7-10 days monthly)
Preferred
- Experience with Monitoring & Diagnostic tools
- Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and disk configurations
